How to play
There are four different areas in Solitaire,
- The Stock: This is the pile of face-down cards in the top-left.
- The Waste: This is the pile of face-up cards next to the Stock. Cards are taken from the Stock in order and placed faceup in the Waste.
- The Tableau: These are the seven piles of cards in the central area of the play area.
- The Foundations: These are the four piles of face-up cars in the top-right, there is one pile for each suit.
Your aim is to move all the cards on to the Foundations. There is one stack of cards for each suit in the Foundations area.
The Ace of any given suit needs to be placed on the pile first, followed by the 2, 3, 4, ... , 10, Jack, Queen, and finally the King.
These are the valid moves,
- You can take the card at the top of the Stock pile, and place it face-up at the top of the Waste pile.
- When the Stock is empty, you can take the full pile of cards (if there are any) from the Waste, and place them back face-down on the Stock.
- You can move a single card from the Waste on to another card on the Tableau, provided the card being moved is of the opposite colour, and one lower in value than the top-most existing card.
- You can move a partial or complete face-up pile from one part of the Tableau to another, provided the bottom-most card being moved is of the opposite colour and one lower in value than the top-most existing card.
- You can move a King from the Waste to an empty Tableau pile.
- You can move a face-up pile from one column of the Tableau to an empty column, provided the bottom card is a King.
